Our very own Maria and her family got to experience this magnificent place during the school holidays and can we say, the photos are absolutely breathtaking and mesmerizing to say the least. Definitely lots of insta-worthy moments!
Paronella Park is without a doubt a place like no other. Set on a huge property one and a half hour drive from Cairns, this mystical place is eco certified, heritage-listed and completely carbon neutral.
The story behind Paronella Park is a beautiful one, filled with love. Jose Paronella built this castle in the rainforest for his wife Margarita back in the 1930’s. The history of this site is a lot more than just a love story between husband and wife. Make sure you don’t miss the guided tours (departing every half an hour). Maria says: “The guided tours are definitely worth joining as the tour guides are very knowledgeable and the story behind Paronella Park is such a unique and interesting one. The tour goes for half an hour and is perfect with younger children. After the guided tour, people can stay in the park as long as they want, to explore and relax in this beautiful rainforest setting”.
Yes, the photos are amazing, but discovering this place by foot is the best way to experience everything Paronella Park has on offer. The waterfalls, the castle itself, the gardens and the rainforest… Maria’s favourite was the view from the bridge and the bamboo garden, which were both unforgettable.
